| 高质量发展和地区经济发展不平衡问题是当前学术界、社会和决策者关注的重要话题。本文基于省级面板数据，研究一流大学的建设和发展对地区经济高质量发展水平的影响，并着重考察一流大学与普通高校对地区经济高质量发展水平影响的差异及其作用机制。研究结果显示，普通高校和一流大学均能促进地区经济高质量发展，但一流大学相较于普通高校能够对提高地区经济高质量发展水平产生更大的促进作用；异质性分析结果表明，一流大学对东部地区经济高质量发展的正效应大于普通高校，但对中部和西部地区的影响小于普通高校；进一步的机制分析结果显示，一流大学对研发经费支出、研发人员数量、专利申请数的增加均有显著的促进作用，较普通高校而言，一流大学对技术创新的促进作用更大。本文从一流大学视角切入，为促进地区经济高质量发展提供新的经验证据。 |

| High-quality development and the issue of unbalanced regional economic development are important topics of concern for academics, society, and policymakers. Based on provincial panel data, this paper examines the impact of the construction and development of first-class universities on regional economic high-quality development. It also focuses on the differences between first-class universities and ordinary universities in their contributions to regional economic high-quality development and the underlying mechanisms. The results indicate that both ordinary universities and first-class universities contribute to the regional economic high-quality development. However, first-class universities play a more significant role in enhancing the level of regional economic high-quality development compared to ordinary universities. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the positive impact of first-class universities on high-quality economic development in eastern China is greater than that of ordinary universities, while their impact in central and western China is less pronounced than that of ordinary universities. Further mechanism analysis shows that first-class universities have a significant positive effect on increasing R&D expenditure, the number of R&D personnel, and the number of patent applications. Additionally, first-class universities have a stronger promoting effect on technological innovation than ordinary universities. This paper provides new empirical evidence for promoting regional economic high-quality development from the perspective of first-class universities. |
